Our mission as a label is to showcase the best talent Africa has to offer, particularly Southern Africa via CD, DVD and digital download releases. A lot of our time is spent sourcing material, and we hope this shines through in our catalogue. Although Africa is our focus, we also release Artists that originate from elsewhere, the most important consideration being the quality of the music. We passionately believe in what we do and work to benefit both the label and all our artists by pushing Africa to the fore. By embracing new technology and delivering all our releases in the best packages possible, we aim to change the way Africa is perceived by the outside world. Trenton Birch is from Johannesburg although he spent the first 11 years of his life growing up in Kenya, Nigeria and Bahrain. He is the founder of both Black Mango Music and Afrolution Records and has extensive experience in live music events, artist management, tv production and A&R. He was a national TV / Radio presenter in South Africa for 4 years and now fronts the hip hop / electro group - Free Radical. He is the A&R mainstay and drives the labels concept and direction. |

Ronny Anderson has worked as an international licensing and distribution manager in the UK music industry for 20 years. He grew up in Johannesburg but moved to the UK as a conscientious objector to the Apartheid system after spending time in the army on the Angolan border. He deals with our licensing, distribution and business management and has worked with Trenton for over 8 years. |

John Medupe is a walking encyclopedia of musical knowledge. He'll enlighten you on anything from death metal and underground hip hop to electronica and world music. He grew up between South Africa, Malawi and the US and has worked for various broadcasters, PR, and music companies over the years. Now based back in Johannesburg after a 2 year stint in London and 3 years in Washington, he works with the label on research and development as well as marketing. |

Lavela Dandala is based in Cape Town and assists us with marketing, sales and A&R. He grew up in the Transkei in the Western Cape and is busy learning the ins and outs of the music game. Look out for him on the streets of Cape Town trying to put a copy of Breathe Sunshine or Real Earth into your hand - for a fee of course :-). |
